How to Bring Value to Your Readers ? [6/365]

A first example of bringing good value would be to give you a great answer to the question. It would be valuable to you because it is not obvious how to achieve it, and it could have great impact on your success.

Why bring value ?

Because it will help someone else succeed.

  • Help someone save time
  • Help someone make money
  • Help someone become a good writer
  • Help someone understand your product
  • Help someone make sense of a huge topic

This will make you a happy person to know that thanks to your shared knowledge, someone can live better. Incidentaly, those people will help you back by giving you insights in their issues and maybe buying your products if they are valuable enough.

How can I do it then ?

Basically, two steps.

First, you have to create content, based on your knowledge and/or research, that is interesting, helpful or brings up (good ?) feelings. It can teach, spark reflection, make someone laugh. Choose a direction, and start walking towards it.

Second, you have to be consistent about it. Of course you can get a one hit wonder, but it will be just a fad that will be quickly forgotten. If you keep at it, you will become a better creator, repeat the same message to drill it home, and end up reaching and helping a lot more people. And the more you do it, the more you will discover what your readers' issues are, and the better your content will become.

I’m not saying that it is easy, and you will suck at first. But as long as you don’t keep going, you cannot bring huge value because you will not have been exposed to what your readers actually need.

You cannot help everybody at once

You may not yet be, or see yourself as, an expert in anything. I don’t think that I am. You don’t have to be to help out.

  • If you are starting out, help beginners
  • If you have been in the field for 1-2 years, help people with 1-2 month of experience
  • If you are the expert with 10 years of experience, help the intermediate level become better.

The more knowledgeable you are, the harder it will become to remember what were the issues you had when you were just starting out. You just won’t remember what you struggled with.

Now go out there and create.
