When you are just getting started, you probably just set yourself a very random goal, like “I want to get to 1000 Twitter followers”, or “I want to get 10k people visiting my website”.
Those are vanity metrics.
Are they useful ? It depends on what you want to achieve.
If your ultimate goal is to become big on Twitter, then yes, that is useful.
If you want to create a company, not so much.
It is better to have 100 followers bringing 10 clients than 1000 followers bringing 1 clients.
You will get in front of a lot more eyes if you have a larger following, but if those people are not at all interested by this venture of yours, then it does nothing to help you grow your business.
This is why I set myself the goal of having 1 client by the end of the year. That’s a very small goal, but it unlocks all that comes after.
With 1 client, I can have a direct conversation.
With 1 client, I will have made my first money online.
With 1 client, I will understand better what it was they were interested in.
I don’t even have a working product now, even though I have a lot of ideas. But I will get one client, no matter the product I end up with.
Get one client.
